YOUTH TAKE::THE FUTURE IS OUR FUTURE:: KID GEEKS!! - March 13, 2010 by Nico
NYC FIRST Robotics LIVE Webcast at NASA.robotics.gov  – Kids, Technology and Streaming Media!! Oh my! Recently me & my honey took the kids to the SONY Wonder Labs, which is a FREE interactive playground in NYC at the SONY building,  It was indeed “wonderful” and it also made me sad… Sad that I had missed out on so much back in the days of my misspent youth! Of course, none of this existed yet… so, what can you do?
Alas, NYC is finally becoming a breeding ground for fabulous geekdom!
Celebrating Kids Working Smart in Science and Technology

All FIRST programs are organized around two components:

  1. engaging teams of students in the process of technological innovation through the use of robotics; and
  2. bringing communities together to celebrate the achievements of students working smart in science and technology.

CAPSELA ROCKS!

I love the CAPSELA@

Nico’s Deep Thought:  I love to see the next, youngest generation as they enter the wonderful world of genius, geekdom!!  There wasn’t a competition around here in NYC for me in High School, we didn’t have computers in the schools yet!!  Not much Robotics (I did do Lego but Capsela was always my FAVORITE!!)  and a lot of Rube Goldberg, but that’s mostly physics!!
Oooh!  Have I said too much?  Well, I suppose I should keep the mystery alive and focus on tomorrow!
Defined Rube Goldberg designed inventions that made simple tasks much more complicated. Like this! (Who didn’t love watching Zoom growing up???)

Singing robot::A.I. Ceatec in Japan:: Geeky Freaky! - October 7, 2009 by Nico

According to their website: “CEATEC JAPAN is the Cutting-edge IT & Electronics Comprehensive Exhibition.”
As a comprehensive IT and electronics trade show where world-leading technologies, products and services are announced, CEATEC JAPAN is the focus of close attention by the industry and a truly wide range of users.

According to me, check out the singing robot!  (Just watch out for Typhoon No. 18!)

With the addition of Vocaloid software she sings!  Observe the animatronics, her facial expressions are pretty good, the random blinking action is very close to life! This is happening now in Japan at their electronics show called Ceatec:

More on the origin of the Vocaloid software: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vocaloid#Kagamine_Rin_and_Len

It’s sends a chill up my spine – although as a child I always wanted my own robot, now I am “a’feared”.

LITTLE BROTHER IS WATCHING:: MARKETER DREAM-BOT :: GEEK FREAK TWEAK - September 10, 2009 by Nico

Here is a new device out of Japan that is touted to aggregate your life-force into a database for easy “tacking” and overall “betterment” of your existence – everything and anything that is designed to help you do things better by tracking your every move is really designed to keep you in-line and sell you stuff!

The Polaris phone/robot is a three-part system that incorporates your phone, your television, and the robotic sphere seen above. The sphere contains speakers for the phone’s music, and wheels that roll the sphere to the closest power source to charge the phone. The sphere’s dock also links up with your television to display the detailed data about your life and behavior that the phone records.

So, NebuAd was shut down for doing this behind the ISP firewall, if you can get people to bring this cute little guy into their homes, you have the ultimate opt in.  I suppose it’s a great gimmick for homeland security to track you!

Isn’t it possible for little brother to hook himself up to charge and at the same time TRANSMIT all your data to his LEADER over power lines???  Or does that only happen on the SyFy channel?
